Update on Microwave Gun
We tested the magnetron today and had some interesting, if disappointing, results. The square-cube law worked against us, however, and we will need to focus the beam into a very small point in order to make it work the way we want. While testing the device, I made an origami cube and cut off the bottom, then wet it to see if the magnetron would dry it quickly. It didn't, so I reached out to grab the cube, forgetting that there was still water on it. Needless to say, it made a loud pop and hurt me very badly. For a minute afterwards, my chest was tightened. It sucked, but I was glad to have learned the lesson. We are getting the materials for the mount prepared and will soon have it assembled in its full glory.

What popped? The cube exploded? I thought it was open to the air as in not a sealed container?
ReplyDeleteThe electricity arcing to my finger popped. Nothing happened to the cube.
